Dean started comedy in May 2005 whilst working as a cadaver embalmer. It was either learn to laugh or go mad, although people are still uncertain which of those he opted for.
As well as studying for a PhD in neruoscience, Dean is an extremely prolific comedian with a backlog of jokes that he's never even gotten round to using.
From subjects as diverse as fighting off muggers and lesbians to the benefits of Alzheimers disease, one word that defiantely doesn't describe Dean is 'run of the mill'.
As an established act on the Cardiff comedy scene, Dean has wowed audiences from venues as diverse as the Cardiff Glee club, pub back rooms, open air festivals and London book shops, gaining praise from open mic acts all the way up to TV stars.
Currently, Dean is in the process of writing 'Dean Burnett: Alphabetically challenged', a comedy marathon where he writes a 15 minute routine for each letter of the alphabet. Each letter is represented by a subject of a routine, and each subject was suggested by top-class comedians (go to www.myspace.com/deansalphabet for more details).
As far as he knows, this is the first time anyone ahs ever tried to do somethign like this. Dean is also the only Welsh Neuroscientist comedian on the circuit. Again, as far as he knows.
